CONFIRMATION CLASS

Pastor Greg will be leading a confirmation class beginning April 11th.  The group will meet at the church for 6 weeks on Sunday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.  We will be gathering to hear about the church, some history, how we fit in as young people, and learn a little more about the gifts that we share for the Kingdom of God.

Young persons who are at least 12 years old are invited to join us.  There will be a letter of invitation to those we can identify.  However, as we know that our records are sometimes inaccurate and incomplete, if you do not hear from us and would like to know more about the Confirmation Class, please contact the church or speak with Pastor Greg directly.

Participation in each gathering is very important.  There will be one day that we visit the Conference Center in Cranberry Township.  Students will miss school that day, but this is a legal excuse (and very exciting to youth).   The date for the Confirmation visit is Friday, April 30th.

Finally, put your dates on the calendar for Sunday, May 23rd.   Confirmation and Reception into the Local Church will be celebrated during worship on that day.

I am very excited about this adventure!!   Please pray for our young persons as they make a very important step in their spiritual development.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN NEWS

Is spring around the corner yet?  Winter has been long and cold, and we have been tucked away in our homes because
of the weather.  I am looking forward to seeing you all at our  first United Methodist Women’s afternoon meeting for
this year on Thursday, March 4th, at 1:00 p.m.
Sharon Croston will have the program, “S.O.S. Need Chocolate and Friends”.
Hear what  good friends do for each other.   Dessert will be served by Adelaide Burry and Vella Ruth Papa.  Also, if you have not given
your 2010 pledge cards to Adelaide Burry yet, you can give them to her at this meeting.

Both evening and afternoon groups:  Don’t forget that we are still collecting donations of disinfectants, baby dresses, bandages, sanitary pads, prenatal vitamins, off the shelf medicine, gloves, etc. for the maternal and child health unit of the Mutambara Mission Hospital in Zimbabwe.  You can bring your donations in and place them in the box in the Chapel or the Sanctuary or bring them to the March meeting.  The evening circle will be mailing these items out to our missionary in Zimbabwe sometime in April.   If you wish to help with the cost of shipping these items, you can give your donation to Adelaide Burry marked “mission hospital postage.”

All women are invited to come and join us as we gather together to find ways to reach out to those in need in our communities and in the world.

See you all in March!!
                                                                              Sharon Croston

THANK YOU!

Your kindness and sympathy are more deeply appreciated than any word of thanks can ever express.  Thank you for the delicious dinner for Dutch’s funeral.  We appreciate the cooking and cleaning up. Also, you were very generous in giving us the left over food for our family.  It helped us so much. Dutch loved all of you and we love you. I was so very late with this message.  Please forgive me.  God Bless you.

Prayer Chain 2010 Update
Some changes have occurred in our prayer chain recently.  Updated lists have gone out to those who participate in this important ministry that connects us as a body. Prayer is a powerful weapon and tool in our life.  People’s lives are changed through prayer.  People are healed through prayer.  People come to Christ through prayer.  It is necessary and it is a true mark of our lives as Christian Disciples.  As Paul writes in Romans, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.”

We have put into place some simple steps to follow so that our prayers might be lifted by as many people as possible.  We are asking all members of the church that all prayer requests be initiated through the office.  Issues of confidentiality and discretion will be taken into consideration.  The office will forward the prayer request through our team leaders.  Our team leaders will continue to share the information as we have in the past through the phone list.

Although you may not be a part of the phone prayer chain, you can be a part of this important ministry by praying for those who uplift us in prayer daily.  Also, if you are unable to be a part of the phone chain but wish to be connected, there is also an email that goes to others when prayer concerns are expressed.  You can simply call the office and ask to be a part of this email group.

“The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective!”  James 5:16

Theology In Film Series

From Sin to Salvation

Throughout Lent on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, Pastor Greg will continue the Lenten Series of Theology in Film.  Each week, we will watch a movie and discuss it theologically.  No theological or film training is necessary.  We will have an opportunity to share insights into the characters and the plots of the film and how theology impacts how we watch the movie and think about it critically.  Person’s interested in attending the series do not need to commit to all the films – you can come when your schedule allows.
